You might have come across the passage Romans 12:1 where it says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."
If you've ever read this and been confused about what exactly it means to be a living sacrifice, you are not alone. Surely God isn't asking us to literally put our bodies on the altar and be burned alive, but the act of sacrifice means losing something, so what is that something?
To make matters just a bit more complicated, you might remember the story of Cain and Abel where they both gave a sacrifice but only one was accepted. What was the difference between the two? How can we guarantee that whatever we end up sacrificing is going to be accepted by God?
Answers to the questions above and many more are covered in this month's Divine Intervention. No matter your level of knowledge walking in, if you pay close attention and come with a heart open to God, you are sure to leave with a deep understanding of how to offer a well-pleasing sacrifice unto God.
